GGC sponsors a variety of events and fundraiser throughout the year. Bus Trips, Garden Tours, Flower Shows, a Spring Tea, Christmas Greens Sale, Christmas Showcase Home and of course the wonderful Butterfly Release in August.

If you attended the GGC October 2022 'Meeting Out' at the Greensburg Country Club, you know we were treated to a plethora of fabulous products by our guest Speaker: "Handy Andy" Amrhein from True Value Hardware and KDKA.
Andy is offering us a host of products as a fund raiser. An order form is available here to print or can be picked up at the GGC office Tuesdays or Thursdays during office hours.
Order Forms are due by April 20th. Filled Orders may be picked up at the Greensburg Garden Center on Friday, May 5th or Saturday, May 6th during our May Mart Plant Sale and Flea Market.

The annual GGC MAY MART plant sale is almost here just in time for spring! A wide array of plants are available at a very reasonable price! Pre-order is advised if you have your heart set on that special delphinium or other flower, as plants sell-out quickly. Additional plants will be offered the day of the sale dependent on the growers availability.
This year we will also have vendors for: Dahlias, Herbs and hanging baskets.
Be sure to visit the Flea Market – Offering a wide array of shovels, flower pots and other fabulous items at a bargain price for your garden.

Longwood Gardens - Kennet Square, PA

Longwood Gardens is arguably the premier public garden in Pennsylvania, featuring multiple themed gardens, a huge 19th century gothic conservatory and fabulous fountains. If you've never visited Longwood Gardens, you owe it to yourself to witness the breathtaking beauty of this special place. If you've been to Longwood before, you will want to take this opportunity to join us for a lovely day of spring blooms. G.G.C. is timing the date of this trip with hopes of seeing the Wisteria garden in full bloom.
We will be leaving by bus from Greensburg Garden Center at 7:30 AM for the 4.5 hour ride to Kennett Square outside of Philadelphia. There will be a stop for a quick breakfast halfway to Longwood – and a supper stop about halfway back to Greensburg on the return trip.
A 12:00 Noon arrival at Longwood will give us 5 hours to explore. All meals are on your own. There is a cafeteria as well as a lovely restaurant on the property, or pack your own lunch for a picnic.
The bus will depart Longwood Gardens around 5 PM with a projected arrival time of 10:30 PM back at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center.

SAVE THE DATE – Our biennial Garden Tour is being planned for June 24. This is a great afternoon of visiting meticulously cared for gardens in the area. More info will be posted as plans for the tour are finalized.

Deep Creek Lavender Farm

Cliimb aboard the bus for a delightful day trip to Deep Creek, Maryland to visit the beautiful Deep Creek Lavender Farm. Our group will be treated to lavender lemonade and shortbread cookies along with a talk on the best way to grow lavender. The farm will only be open to our group during the visit.
We will be leaving by bus from Greensburg Garden Center at 8:00 AM for the 1 hour 45 minute ride to the Lavender Farm. A 10:00 AM arrival at the farm gives us time to learn and explore.
At 12:00 noon a lunch of gourmet sandwiches will be delivered by FIREFLY FARMS, a local farm that makes their own cheeses. Lunch includes a sandwich, chips, a pickle spear, pickled tomato and house made slaw.
The bus will depart around 1 PM with a projected arrival time of 3:00 PM back at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center.
We are looking forward to a lovely day on July 12th, when the lavender will be in full bloom. Contact the office today at 724-837-0245 for more information or to sign up for the trip.

Magical Magnificent Monarchs Butterfly Release

The beautiful Monarch butterfly is widely considered the “king” of all butterflies.
Treat yourself and your family to the breath-taking sight of butterflies taking flight at our annual Butterfly Release event.!
To reserve your Monarch Butterfly, call the Garden Center office. Choose a release time to attend; either 11 A.M. or 1 P.M.
The Monarchs are provided free compliments of the Second Chance Fund, but we do ask for a reservation fee, refunded when you pick up your butterfly, to insure that everyone gets a butterfly.
The release will take place in the beautiful LeFevre Butterfly Garden located at the bottom of the parking lot behind the main Garden Center building. The colorful flowers there will entice the released Monarchs to stay and take a sip of nectar.

The September membership meeting will include the yearly plant auction. Our members contribute plants from their own beautiful gardens to share with other gardeners. Non-members and guests are welcome to attend.
This is our most interactive meeting of the year, as we enjoy good-natured bidding for the plants brought in by all. The highest bidder takes home a lovely new addition for their garden.
Members; Dig up your perennials, bring houseplants, seeds, vegetables, bouquets or whatever you have from your garden that others may be interested in!
Mark your calendar – The plant auction is a lot of fun and a meeting you want to be sure and attend!

Join us for some fabulous Fall Fun at the lovely Mid-Century Modern Home of a our G.G.C. Neighbor and host for a house tour and Barbecue. Entertainment by country singer Gary Pratt. Specific details will be announced as determined so check back.
After a year of botanical and environmental events and fundraisers, G.G.C. members enjoy an annual Holiday Party. A yearly theme is chosen and the party is always full of entertainment, door prizes and a plethora of raffle baskets.

Annual Pie Sale

The annual PIE SALE is another favorite fundraiser for GGC. Delicious frozen pies in a variety of fabulous flavors are available to purchase. A delivery date is set for pie pickup. Pies are fun and easy to bake making for a delicious dessert for party's and dinners.
One day special tours to member gardens or the annual Philadelphia Flower Show.
The Flower Show also has demonstrations and seminars to inspire and educate gardeners.
Once a year either a group of houses, buildings or churches are decorated by local florists/designers and we take a self paced tour. So much fun for all!
Join us for our hands-on design workshop. Have fun learning to design a flower arrangement, a bird bath, cement leaves or Hypertufa pots. Make new friends at the same time.
